WE ARE STILL HERE IN THE FUTURE: A Workshop on Housing Justice and Collective Imagination

TBD Magazine x Lede New Orleans @ledeneworleans present a workshop for Collective Imagination, Housing Justice, and Future-Building 💭

In response to growing narratives framing New Orleans as disposable in the face of climate change, this workshop invites artists, organizers, researchers, and cultural workers to collectively imagine tangible futures for the city beyond displacement.

Rather than accepting relocation and abandonment as inevitable, the workshop centers the belief that the people of New Orleans will continue shaping futures on this land. Through conversations around housing justice, land, displacement, and community self-determination, participants will explore how cultural workers can move beyond representation and actively help build material conditions for collective survival.

The evening will feature a conversation with sociologist, artist, and co-founder of Jane Place Neighborhood Sustainability Initiative Shana M. griffin, followed by collaborative world-building exercises using collage, mapping, writing, and design prompts to imagine systems and solutions that support long-term community sustainability…
