Join us for a community writing workshop exploring magic realism!

The literary movement combines elements of everyday reality with magical, surreal, folkloric and spiritual elements, creating a world that challenges the laws of reality as we know it. The roots of magic realism transform imagination that pushes beyond reality.

Together, we’ll read and discuss texts by writers across the Global South and the diaspora who use the magical and surreal, to reveal deeper truths about history, identity, and resistance. Through guided writing prompts and group discussion, we will experiment with our own writing in this style, drawing from personal memory, cultural heritage, and imagination.

All levels of experience are welcome! This is a space for exploration, creativity, and connection.
